Kelsey A. Hemerick started an internship with DesChamps Law Firm in February of 2016 and officially joined their team in March of 2016 after receiving her Paralegal Studies degree from Horry Georgetown Technical College. She primarily works with the Civil Litigation attorneys in  file organization; researching individuals as well as companies; assisting with filing and e-filing; correspondence and pleadings; maintaining and organizing produced documents; drafting discovery; containing deposition transcripts and documents; initial review of documents for production;  and assisting with deposition preparations. She also assists in trials, in which she was responsible for drafting and finalizing the initial list of trial exhibits; organizing and marking trial exhibits; locating and contacting trial witnesses; preparing trial notebooks; and maintaining deposition testimony for use at trial as well.

Kelsey also assists in trust and probate administration which includes the preparation of wills,  powers of attorney; managing probate administration of an estate; gathering decedent’s biographical information; determining estate assets; sending formal notice to heirs/beneficiaries; making proper distribution to the heirs/beneficiaries; and closing the estate.

Additionally Kelsey assists the attorneys with mediations and arbitrations. She assists with the scheduling; gathering pleadings and party information; mediation/arbitration agreements; and the finalizing of any possible filings (Proof of ADR) and billing.
